Doug Coby Takes the Pole for the Musket 250 Presented by Whelen
Doug Coby will lead the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour field to green on Saturday for the Musket 250 presented by Whelen at New Hampshire Motor Speedway during the second annual Full Throttle Fall Weekend, September 20-21.
"We had really good speed in practice and we backed it up," said Coby, driver of the No. 2 Chevrolet. "It certainly puts us in a good place to start tomorrow, and hopefully we keep it up front. It's going to come down to fuel strategy and tire strategy, and we're all going to have to be able to be adaptable and play it on the fly however it comes to us. We're ready. We'll see what it throws at us, and we'll have some fun."
This marks the Milford, Conn. native's fourth career pole at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Coby also has four career victories at NHMS - all with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.
Full Throttle Fall Weekend is the must-see, must-attend short track spectacular at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, headlined by three of NASCAR's regional series, where fans can enjoy 495 laps of grassroots racing on "The Magic Mile."
The Musket 250 presented by Whelen is the longest mileage and richest purse of the season and the main event of Full Throttle Fall Weekend. The Saturday tripleheader also features the sport's stars of tomorrow at the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Apple Barrel 125 and the only chance in America this year to see Canada's NASCAR Pinty's Series drivers race at the Visit New Hampshire 100.
The newest race to be added to the weekend's lineup was a 20-lap J&J's Yolk & Co. Oval Series race on a 0.95-mile modified road course featuring Granite State Legends Cars competing for a $5,000 purse on Friday. Plainfield, Conn. native Shaun Buffington, driver of the No. 23S, took the win after starting on the pole and leading all 20 laps.
Full Throttle Fall Weekend continues Saturday with more action and more access to the cars and stars of racing. All ticket holders can meet their favorite drivers during the free autograph session featuring drivers from all three NASCAR series racing at Loudon this weekend.
Pit pass holders can enjoy access into the garages, on pit road and the racetrack, front-stage access for pre-race ceremonies on Saturday, including driver introductions, and get up close to all of the race cars, which will be lined up and down the frontstretch.
The Fan Zone, located outside the infield tunnel next to the Concord Ticket Booth, will feature kids activities, a beer tent with lawn games, a variety of farm style and fall harvest food options, vendors and displays.
Free parking is available in the N1 lot. For closer infield and grandstand access, the S1, S2 and S3 lots will be open for $10 per day, and, for the most convenient parking, premium spots are available behind the Main Grandstand for $35 for the weekend.
Single-day tickets, upgrades and a new weekend package are on sale now.
