New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) staff members enjoyed a chilly morning of community service and team building Monday for the sixth annual Speedway Cares Day at Robert L. Landry Sr. Memorial Field in Loudon, N.H., hometown to “The Magic Mile.” Continuing the April 11 cleanup efforts of the Loudon Sports Association and volunteers, the NHMS team spent a total of 100.5 hours enhancing and putting the final touches on getting the fields ready for the 2026 season, which kicks off May 2.

Twenty NHMS staff members cleaned out, mulched and planted fresh flowers at the entrance sign, painted fence guards and foul poles, replaced a foul ball safety net and a 152-foot playground retention border, added fresh sand, reworked the infield dirt, cleaned up leaves and other brush and more.

“‘Impact Community’ and ‘Heart for Helping Others’ are two of our company’s guiding principles and values, and our team looks forward to Speedway Cares Day every year,” said New Hampshire Motor Speedway Executive Vice President and General Manager David McGrath. “It’s great to get everyone out of the office and into the community to work together and give back to the speedway’s hometown.”

Robert L. Landry Sr. Memorial Field, which was dedicated to Landry when he passed away in 2005, has been the focus of Speedway Cares Day three times and for the past two consecutive years. The field holds a special place in NHMS Senior Account Executive and lifetime Loudon resident Robbin Landry’s heart, as it honors her father’s longtime commitment to youth baseball in Loudon.

“It means so much to me personally that I get to join my speedway family to maintain and spruce up the field where my dad spent countless hours teaching young local athletes the game of baseball,” said Landry, who’s worked at NHMS since 2008.

Since its inception in 2018, Speedway Cares Day has contributed more than 600 hours of community service to the town of Loudon and become an important day of camaraderie for the NHMS team. Past Speedway Cares Day projects include:

  • 2018: Cleaning up the recreation field and prepping the baseball fields and dugouts for the Loudon Youth Baseball Program.
  • 2019: Trimming bushes, raking and aerating lawns, cleaning mulch beds, spreading new mulch, sweeping parking lots and walkways, repairing fences and gates and cleaning a playground at seven different locations in Loudon.
  • 2021: Scraping, painting and restoring more than 250 feet of fence at Loudon’s oldest town cemetery.
  • 2022: Chopping trees, clearing brush and raking leaves to clear out the expansion area at Loudon’s Moore Cemetery.
  • 2025: Trimming branches, clearing brush, weed whacking, raking and aerating lawns, prepping infield bases and runways, painting fence lines and more to get Robert L. Landry Sr. Memorial Field ready for the Loudon Youth Baseball Program.

“We’re so thankful for the speedway team dedicating their time to the town of Loudon for Speedway Cares Day,” said Loudon, N.H. Road Agent Russ Pearl. “It truly makes an impact, and it’s great to see the local kids enjoying the fruits of their labor.”
