With bike enthusiasts from around the globe descending upon Laconia, N.H., “The Magic Mile” will host a jam-packed weekend of motorcycle racing that will put the perfect exclamation point on the legendary Motorcycle Week. For the 89th year, America’s longest-running motorcycle race, the Loudon Classic, will take to the asphalt at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on June 15, 16 and 17.
“The Loudon Classic weekend is what kick-started our state’s popular Motorcycle Week celebration in New Hampshire,” said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway. “This is the third largest motorcycle week in the country and New Hampshire Motor Speedway is proud to provide the anchor event again this year. We expect the racing competition will be fierce.”
In addition to the running of the 89th annual Loudon Classic feature event on Saturday, June 17, the three-day weekend of action will also include the exhilarating MOTARD event, sidecar action, a short-track asphalt program and a plethora of motorcycle mayhem. The U.S. Legends Car Series will also be on track for a special 12-lap feature event.
True enthusiasts will want to check out the gripping short-track motorcycle event on Friday. Riders will use modified dirt bikes to race the speedway’s quarter-mile oval, which includes turns one and two of the NASCAR track.
During the MOTARD event, competitors will battle on a combination of the 1.6-mile asphalt road course, as well as areas of the track that includes gravel, grass and several high-flying jumps. This race showcases Loudon Road Race stars such as Shane Narbonne of Tyngsboro, Mass., Tyler Sweeney of Boston, Mass., and Alex Guilbeault of Litchfield, N.H.
In addition to an overflowing on-track schedule, there will be several entertaining non-racing events, including the fifth annual State of New Hampshire Legislators Parade Lap, an appearance by Miss New Hampshire, two outdoor concerts (featuring One Fine Mess and Stray Dog) and Rainbow the Macaw and owner will try to set a Guinness World Record as the first untethered bird to sit on a motorcycle rider’s shoulder at over 80 mph.
Tickets for the Loudon Classic will be available at the gate. For more information please call 603-783-4931 or visit www.nhms.com.
