What more can be said about Danica Patrick? No matter what your opinion of her as a trailblazer, a pop culture figure, a commercial success, or as a controversial person … she has changed the face of America’s fastest sport.

By leading the Daytona 500 this weekend from the pole position, Danica will make history, and I, for one, think it is great for racing. Remember what impact she had on the popularity of IndyCar racing? And remember the effect on the entire sport when she left? Patrick attracts casual race fans and viewers. As a general manager and businessman, that means a real boost to our entire sport, in both ratings and in ticket sales. That’s a win for everyone. So we celebrate a historic milestone, and wish all the drivers luck on Sunday.

And to steal a page from Danica’s “drive to do something different”, New Hampshire Motor Speedway recently rolled out a sweetheart of a deal for those wanting to see all the action in-person at the Magic Mile this July.

We are going to “Wheel and Deal.” We have blown out our pre-race schedule and will turn NHMS into the world’s largest game show. We are dusting off our mismatched, 1970s leisure suits and plan to do our best (or worst) game show imitations we can deliver. The fashions may be cliché, but the games are real and the prizes are amazing.

We have teamed up with Toyota to give away 10 vehicles to those lucky enough to be playing. All told, we will have more than $250,000 in cash and prizes to giveaway in one day.

Guess what’s behind curtain number one. Don’t get stuck with the gag gift under that box. Play the games well, don’t lose your head and you just might go home in a brand new car. (And yes, we will have lots of game show music in the background to make the experience real).

If you buy tickets, you are automatically entered into the contest. If you buy between now and April 15, we will enter your name into the contest a extra few times to boost your chances. We will select 42 fans to come on down and participate in our game. We already picked one lucky person. A field of 43 fans. 10 cars. Cash. A chance to meet a driver. It’s called “Wheel and Deal.” Just one more reason New Hampshire Motor Speedway wants to be your summertime fun destination.

Hope to see you in July!
