After a short two week break, the Loudon Road Race Series and the Amsoil NELCAR Legends Tour will race back into New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend to kick off a fall season full of speed.
The last time LRRS zipped around “The Magic Mile” it was Eric Wood who captured his first Dash for the Cash checkered flag of 2011. Wood, who hails from Ashburnham, Mass., battled early with New Hampshire’s own Scott Greenwood who finished second. Tyler Sweeney and Christian Cronin put on a show for the fans racing back and forth for the last podium position throughout the entire race. In the end, it was Sweeney who came home third after Cronin lost control of his bike, which brought out a race-ending red flag.
Shane Narbonne has dominated most of the 2011 season, but will miss his second consecutive LRRS weekend because of a conflict with his American Motorcyclist Association schedule. With Narbonne missing the series’ August weekend, Wood was able to take over the Middleweight Grand Prix championship standings. The LRRS headlining race will run again Saturday afternoon.
Last month, in the NELCAR Legends Tour, Tom Gray ended Shaun Buffington’s 2011 undefeated run at NHMS. Buffington looks to redeem himself on track when the series returns to NHMS Saturday evening. The NELCAR green flag is slated to drop at 5 p.m.
Tickets for all LRRS weekends can be purchased at the main gate. Visit www.nhms.com for more details.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has only two races until the Race for the Chase begins. This weekend, the drivers will take on the 1.54-mile oval of Atlanta Motor Speedway. Coverage for Sunday’s AdvoCare 500 begins at 7:30 p.m. (ET) on ESPN.
