The IZOD INDYCAR Series will kick off one of its most ambitious and anticipated season’s this Sunday, March 27, in St. Petersburg Fla., which means there are only 12 races until INDYCAR returns to New England.  

The 2011 IZOD INDYCAR Series season will feature several changes including; double-file restarts, open garage areas, and a $5 million bonus for any driver outside the series who can win the final race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

At speeds of more than 200 mph, America’s fastest cars and stars are gearing up to bring a New Breed of Speed back to New Hampshire Motor Speedway when the series returns to the Granite State on Sunday, Aug. 14.   

“Based on the feedback from fans at various trade shows and other promotional events through the winter months, this is one of the most-anticipated new sporting events in recent New England history,” said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of the speedway. “I am encouraged by early ticket sales and the buzz that the INDYCAR 225 is generating. They are going to bring a wicked fast and very competitive product that I am confident will provide the fans with some great racing entertainment.” 

Race fans can see the IZOD INDYCAR Series most popular driver Danica Patrick, three-time series champion Dario Franchitti and three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves as they take on “The Magic Mile” for the first time behind the wheel of an Indy car.
