The sounds were unmistakable.  The roar of engines could be heard all around.  Six of the best drivers in the sport were behind the wheel of their Sprint Cup cars on Tuesday and Wednesday, logging laps around the "Magic Mile."  The cars weren't the highly polished beasts we see every weekend, but they were fast...really fast.

Jeff Gordon, Joey Logano, Jeff Burton, Clint Boyer, Matt Kenseth and Dave Blaney were on a quest for speed.  They participated in a Goodyear Tire test for the new Gen-6 Sprint Cup cars that are now competing every weekend.  The results are top secret, but the reports from the drivers are that the cars handled well, the tires held up and the speeds were higher than ever before.

In his interview, Joey added, "Plus we have some great lobster in New England."  Love the hometown kids...

I can't wait to see the finished product when the entire crew returns for the New Hampshire 300 on July 14.

Before the Sprint Cuppers came to town, we did have one "arresting development" in Manchester that you may have heard about.  As part of the "Buckle Up NH" campaign this week, yours truly got to spring some race tickets on several unsuspecting drivers who were stopped by police for...doing the right thing.

In honor of the many drivers who quietly go from place to place with their seatbelts fastened, both hands on the wheel, and watching the road with their phones safely out of reach, we offered a small token of our thanks.

Drivers like Bethany Moreau were admittedly puzzled when police pulled her over in front of the Verizon Wireless Arena.  But when I delivered two tickets to the New Hampshire 300, the look of concern quickly disappeared and was replaced with excitement.

Moral of this part of my story:  do the right thing, because it might just land you in the grandstands at NHMS!

We are proud to participate in Restaurant Week.  Our racing schedule draws 100,000s of people to New Hampshire, and many of them check out the local restaurants and pubs.  I like to think we are an "economic engine" for these fine places, and we are honored to help kickoff a great week of eating.
