What makes NHMS worth the visit?
(VIDEO) The Race Day Journey of a NASCAR Fan
New Hampshire Motor Speedway has the reputation as one of the most unique visits on the NASCAR schedule. It is the only race track in New England to host NASCAR National Series races, and is located six hours from the next closest stop on the schedule.
NHMS is unique for many reasons:
- The Landscape - Tourism is one of the main industries in the state of New Hampshire. The picturesque Lakes Region and White Mountains are located not far to the north of the track. Many fans take advantage of affordable RV camping prices at NHMS and make NASCAR week an excuse for a N.H. vacation.
- The Weather - Sure, New England has harsh winters, but summers make it all worth living here. New Hampshire has some of most enjoyable weather for racing. During the summer, the warm temperatures make for an enjoyable substitute to another day at the beach without the extreme humidity of the southern United States. In early fall, there's a slight chill in the air, making for the most comfortable outing and a great opportunity to soak up the last of the summer air.
- The Racing - The track layout is unique to any other on the schedule. The 1.058-mile oval is relatively flat with tight corners, which creates hard, demanding racing. Drivers routinely rave about the challenge of the World's Greatest One-Mile Oval and the accomplishment of winning is a notch in the belt for the best in the world.
