NHMS is the Future Home of the North East Motor Sports Museum The North East Motor Sports Museum is being constructed in two stages near the Speedway's South entrance. Groundbreaking for the first phase was held in September 2015. The museum will be home to an extensive collection of race cars, trophies, helmets, motorcycles, books, photographs, magazines, videos and memorabilia that represents a cross-section of the rich racing history of America's Northeast corner. All forms of motorsports will be represented including drag and motorcycle racing, dirt and pavement competition, oval track and road racing, Legends and even soap box derby. The focus of the project is to capture, preserve and share with the public the history of motorsports in the Northeast.
The museum's parent company, the Racing History Preservation Group, has published a hard cover book, "A History of Auto Racing in New England" which is available at the NHMS gift shop.
The museum is a not-for-profit project run by a 27-person Board of Directors. Every state and racing discipline is represented on the Board. No Board member has been paid for their services on behalf of the museum nor will they ever be paid. Every Board member has an extensive motorsports background.
Most of the vehicles on the floor as well as some of the helmets and trophies will be loaned to the museum. If you have vehicles, artifacts or printed matter of historic value to donate or loan to the museum, please let us know at our email address, NEMSmuseum@gmail.com.
The first stage will be nearly 10,000 square feet and is currently under construction. Learn more at the museum's website, NEMSmuseum.com.
