LOUDON, N.H. - With experience ranging from the performing arts to the magic of motorsports, Christopher Lockwood was named today by New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials as Director of Marketing and Promotion.

Lockwood spent the last year as the director of marketing at The Palace Theatre in Manchester, N.H. In his new position at the speedway, Lockwood will provide strategic direction, tactical execution, as well as trade show and event coordination. He will work closely with the speedway's in-house graphics, sales and ticket teams and its agency of record in order to meet business, revenue and ticket sales goals.

"Chris exemplifies the kind of person we want heading our marketing team," said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of the speedway. "He's bright, energetic and brings a lot of new creative and unique ideas to the table. I like that he has experience marketing for venues where the primary objective is to put butts in seats. We're excited to have him on board and for what the future holds for him and the speedway."

Entertainment marketing is nothing new to Lockwood, who spent nearly five seasons as the director of marketing at the Meadowbrook Pavilion in Gilford, N.H. Stints as a media relations specialist at Elms College and the director of corporate development at Spooky World Nightmare New England.

It could be said that Lockwood joining the speedway team was inevitable. His father, Richard Lockwood, worked events at the speedway starting back in the 70s when it was Bryar Motorsport Park, while his sister, Jennifer Lockwood, worked in the communications office in the early 90s.

"To be selected to market the largest sports entertainment venue in all of New England is a great opportunity," said Lockwood. "With all of the exciting changes to NASCAR and the speedway itself, I can't wait to unveil to our fans why 'It's Not The Same' at New Hampshire Motor Speedway."

Lockwood was born and raised in Belmont, N.H., which is less than a 15-minute drive from the speedway. He received his master's degree in Communications with an emphasis on Media Studies from Elms College in Chicopee, Mass. He also earned his B.A. at Elms College, graduating with a degree in Business Management/Sociology.

The 38-year-old Lockwood will be honored on March 19 as part of the Manchester Union Leader's "40 Under 40" list that recognizes top New Hampshire business executives who are making an impact in their respective careers.

Lockwood currently resides in Concord, N.H. with his wife, Shannon, and their two children.
