Want to win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway?  Just ask Jeff Burton he has done it a record breaking 4 times.

Jeff Burton began his Sprint Cup Series career right here at the “Magic Mile,” back when the doors first opened to NASCAR’s elite series and it wasn’t long until he found his way to the NHMS record books by winning four races, capturing eight top-five’s, and 13 top-10’s along the way.

The first trip to victory lane for Burton at the speedway came during the Jiffy Lube 300 on July 13, 1997.  Using his talented driving skills and the crew’s quick pit stops, Burton battled his way from a 15th starting position to the front of the pack leading 99 of 300 laps.

“Winning a Sprint Cup race is the highlight of any driver’s career in today’s environment and I do like coming to New Hampshire, said Burton. I like the people, the food, the air, and the track.  I have a special feeling when I come here.”

In the years to come Burton would prove he was a force to be reckoned with at NHMS, by taking at least one checkered flag each season from 1997 through 2000. Burton dominated the race in 2000 by leading all 300 laps.

“Jeff has proven that his driving style and the unique challenges of the “Magic Mile” mesh well together,” said Jerry Gappens executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway.  “He is a great competitor on the track and an excellent spokesman for our sport off the track.”
