Sunday Afternoon: Buffington Completes Tripleheader Sweep
Shaun Buffington won his third race of the weekend in the legends cars to complete the tripleheader sweep. The win came on the Moat Mountain Road Course and marked the second time in four 2013 tripleheaders that he has swept the weekend.
Mike Alton beat out Tom Gray and Alex Vorrilas in a heated battle for second, and Gray took advantage of a last lap spin by Vorrilas to claim the podiums final spot.
Saturday Evening: Buffington Doubles Up, Casey Call Wins in Bandoleros
Shaun Buffington won his second legends cars race of the day. After winning on the road course earlier, he led all 25 laps of the caution-free event on the mini-oval.
His teammate, Tom Gray, made a late push for the lead but was unable to get by Buffington and settled for second. In an obscure run, Taylor Martin finished third on the mini-oval for the seventh consecutive race.
In the Gifford's Famous Ice Cream Bandolero Series, Casey Call led all 12 laps to take the win. He will turn 10 on Sunday and ran away from Derek Debbis (second) and Robby Gordon Douglas (third) for the win. The win was the third in a row for Call at NHMS.
Saturday Afternoon: Buffington Starts Vintage with Road Course Win
Shaun Buffington won the opening race of the Legends Cars tripleheader on the Moat Mountain Road Course on Saturday afternoon. Alex Vorrilas and Tom Gray rounded out the podium.
Buffington ran away from the field and won by nearly a straightaway. Vorrilas started alongside him on the front row, and Tom Gray worked his way up from last position after trouble in qualifying.
Mike Alton and Dean Dezak were also up front early in the race, but Alton went off the track early and Gray was able to battle his way around Dezak to earn the podium.
