The drama, excitement and anticipation of championship racing has arrived at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
The SYLVANIA 300 green flag will wave at 2 p.m., but there is plenty of action before on-track activities get started.
The NELCAR Legends Tour was up bright and early to take on the tricky .25-mile oval.
Country superstar duo Montgomery Gentry launch pre-race ceremonies with a concert beginning at 12:10 p.m. The group will perform hit songs including, “My Town,” “Hell Yeah," “Something to be Proud Of,” “Lucky Man” and “Back When I Knew it All.”
To recognize the tenth anniversary of 9/11, fourteen first responders from the Manchester, N.H. fire department will be in attendance during driver introductions. Manchester Fire Department District Chief Al Poulin and Lt. Paul Smith will greet each driver on stage, and the remaining 12 will welcome the chase contenders to NHMS with a special escort. Lt. Smith and Chief Poulin were part of a team of firefighters who conducted a dramatic rescue of three people from the Merrimack River last month. In honor of their service and sacrifice, NHMS is proud to take a moment to remember their efforts.
Loudon, N.H. resident Natalie Turgeon will sing the national anthem prior to the race. Turgeon has performed at the New Hampshire Country Music Association contest and the New England Country Music Organization Country Invitational Showdown where she easily swept the Female Vocalist and Female Entertainer of the Year awards.
Then the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup is on at NHMS. Ryan Newman is on the pole and looks to repeat his July race weekend with a win.
