The two-wheeled stars of the Loudon Road Race Series celebrated a season that included a record 36,729 laps or racing on the 1.6-mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway road course during the series’ annual awards banquet Saturday night in Manchester, N.H.
Rick Doucette was the star of the event as the Sandown, N.H., rider was honored for claiming seven championships in six different divisions, including the prestigious 2010 LRRS New Hampshire Motor Speedway Track Championship award.
“I really just want to thank my team for all of the hard work they put in each week,” said Doucette. “It really is a lot of fun bouncing back and forth with all of these guys during the season.”
Dunbarton, N.H., native and last year’s track champion Scott Greenwood also went home with his share of hardware, collecting six championship trophies in six different divisions. Greenwood joined many of his fellow racers in expressing how enjoyable the 2010 LRRS season was.
“This year really has been a blast,” said Greenwood. “My hat’s off to everyone on my team and all of my competitors.”
The Loudon Road Race Series will race its way back to “The Magic Mile” in 2011 for seven exciting weekends of action, including the 88th running of the series’ featured event, the Loudon Classic, on June 17-19.
