Buffington Completes Doubleheader Sweep
Shaun Buffington completed a sweep of the Moat Mountain Road Course Series race weekend with the help of a pre-race pit call. Buffington put his rain tires on the car, while other drivers stuck with their slicks, and that helped him run away with the lead on the damp track as the precipitation began to fall.
The weather affected several drivers, but didn't deter Trevor Bleau and Patrick Dillon, who finished second and third, respectively. It was Bleau's first career podium finish at NHMS and just the second for Dillon.
The final two races of the season will be run at 11:15 p.m. on October 19 and 20.

Buffington Wins First Leg of Doubleheader
Shaun Buffington won the first leg of the weekend's doubleheader in the Moat Mountain Road Course Series. He ran away from teammate Tom Gray, who finished second, and Alex Vorrilas, who finished third.
Buffington has now won 10 road course races at NHMS in 2013 and increased his points lead to nine points on Gray with three races left in the season. He started on the pole and led all 12 laps in the caution-free event.
While Gray was unable to keep up with Buffington, he clearly had the second fastest car on the track and was unchallenged for his spot on the podium.
The biggest battle took place for the third position. Vorrilas ran third early before Mike Alton, who won the most recent road course race in mid-August, got around him. The cars took the white flag side-by-side and made contact entering turn one, which resulted in Alton spinning out. From there, Vorrilas held off a hard-charging Trevor Bleau for third.
