NASCAR Star Clint Bowyer issued over $7,000 of "good tickets" for the SYLVANIA 300 on Sunday, September 14 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway to area motorists who obeyed the State of New Hampshire's "Move Over" law.
The law calls for motorists to give a wide berth to stationary police cruisers displaying flashing blue lights, fire department vehicles and ambulances displaying flashing red lights, and tow trucks and state crew vehicles displaying amber or flashing yellow lights. The goal is to improve overall safety for first responders, highway crews, and police officers while they are on the job. Since 2004, 36 N.H. State Police vehicles have been struck in roadside incidents, three were totaled.
Clint was excited to "patrol" New Hampshire's highways.
"It's neat to be able to see the expressions on people's faces when they are being pulled over with a smile and are being rewarded for safe driving," said Bowyer, the defending champion of the SYLVANIA 300. "It sure beats a frown and a big fine!"
