Each Monday we take a look back at the top performances from the week that was from around the region.

What a busy week it was, too, with four divisions at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, special Modified events on a couple of nights in Connecticut and short-track racing across the northeast heading into championship mode.

Without futher ado, we present The Podium:

1. Brian Hoar, Williston, Vt.

A former track record holder in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, Hoar collected his first career victory at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with a win in the ACT All-Star Challenge on Saturday. The victory was the record 32nd of Hoar's ACT career as he continued to keep a stranglehold on the top spot in the Tour standings this season.

Hoar was impressive in the final 50-lap segment of the two-segment race, charging from 35th in the starting field to the lead in less than 35 laps.

2. Mike Stefanik, Coventry, R.I.

Stefanik snapped a 13-year New Hampshire Motor Speedway drought on the Whelen Modified Tour by winning the Granite State Classic on Saturday in overtime. Stefanik, who won three of four races at the speedway in 1998 (ironically, the last time IndyCar visited), held on over two green-white-checkered restarts for his 71st career Tour win.

3. Jerry Marquis, Broad Brook, Conn.

Marquis stunned everybody by coming out of retirement unexpectedly and then leading every lap in the 100-lap Valenti Modified Racing Series event ta Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday. Marquis, who last drove in 2007 on the Whelen Modified Tour, was filling in for Rowan Pennink who was at New Hampshire competing in the Granite State Classic.
