The Sprint Cup Series heads to Michigan International Speedway for the traditional Father's Day race. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! Thanks for always being there to say "yes" after Mom said "no."
Let's wave the flags on this week's fantasy NASCAR field:
The No. 99 has been boringly consistent as always in 2014. Edwards hasn't set the world on fire, but he has seven top-10s in 14 starts and four additional finishes between 11th and 14th. His 8.3 average finish at Michigan is the best in the field, so another ho-hum top-10 is expected this weekend.
There's no fault to starting Junior. He just won last week, and he's won this Father's Day race at Michigan in both 2008 and 2012. Just understand that with only 10 top-10s in 29 starts at Michigan, he's not consistently finishing up front at the track.
Yahoo! Fantasy Auto Racing players will look at Bayne on the C-list and be intrigued, especially because Ford has the propensity to race well at Michigan. Bayne has started six races at that track in the No. 21 Wood Brothers machine, and it hasn't been very competitive. His average finish is 23.8 at the track with a high of 15th. Juan Pablo Montoya in the Penske Racing No. 12 and possibly even Brett Moffit in the Michael Waltrip Racing No. 66 might be better options from that C-list.
