Each Monday we take a look back at the week that was from around the region.

Unfortunately, rain claimed a number of race programs around the northeast, but those who raced both ahead of and behind the weather that impacted a number of places turned in some impressive performances. From the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, there were plenty of standout performances.

Without further ado, let's look at who made The Podium this week...

1. Wayne Helliwell Jr., Dover, N.H.

The ACT Late Model Tour points leader extended his advantage atop the standings by winning the ACT 100 at Sanair Super Speedway in Saint Pie, Quebec, on Sunday. Helliwell dominated the combination event featuring both the ACT Late Model Tour and the ACT Castrol Series.

It was Helliwell's first appearance at Sanair. The ACT Late Model Tour had not been to the flat, .875-mile triangle since 2006.

2. Donny Lia, Jericho, N.Y.

The two-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion returned to Victory Lane for the first time this season by winning the Budweiser 150 at Thompson International Speedway on Thursday night. It was Lia's first Tour win and first Thompson win since 2009.

3. D.J. Shaw, Center Conway, N.H.

The former NASCAR K&N Pro Series East competitor won the PASS 150 on Sunday at White Mountain Motorsports Park – where he is a former Late Model champion – for his second consecutive PASS North Series victory.

Honorable Mention

Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, went from 37th to third in the ACT 100 at Sanair Super Speedway on Sunday with the benefit of just one caution flag over the final 93 laps of the event... Point leader Doug Coby of Milford, Conn., finished third in the Budweiser 150 for his seventh Top-5 in eight Whelen Modified Tour races this season... Stafford Motor Speedway's Joe Coss was named one of five finalists for the UNOH Battle At The Beach announcer search last week. He's the only New Englander among the five vying to handle the play-by-play at Daytona International Speedway next February... Ryan Preece of Berlin, Conn., won his eighth NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified feature event of the season at Thompson on Thursday... Jeramee Lillie of West Warwick, R.I., won the 30-lap Late Model feature at Seekonk Speedway on Thursday.
