Each Monday we take a look back at the week that was from around the region.

The weather finally broke after days of hard rains and intermittent showers in the northeast, and the change in weather produced some of the best racing of the season to date. From the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series to the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, the were plenty of podium-worthy efforts.

Without further ado, let's look at who made this week's Podium:

1. Kyle Larson, Elk Grove, Calif.

The decorated USAC open-wheel racer earned the biggest stock car victory of his career on Saturday night at Gresham Motorsports Park, winning the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Slack Auto Parts 150 for his first career win.

The Rev Racing rookie gave the organization its first win of the season, one week after Larson won his first career pole at the NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 at Bowman Gray Stadium.

2. David Oliver, Standish, Maine

The former Super Late Model champion at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway won his second consecutive Pro Series 100 at the track. After starting last in the event in 2011 en route to the win, this year he started on the pole and swapped the lead several times with Brad Babb over the final 30 laps for the victory.

3. Joey Logano, Middletown, Conn.

The 2007 K&N Pro Series East champion used a bump-and-run to pass Mark Martin on the newly repaved Pocono Raceway Sunday afternoon for his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory since winning a rain-shortened event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2009.

Honorable Mention

NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver Ryan Preece of Berlin, Conn., held off Keith Rocco in the closing laps to win the 30-lap SK Modified feature last Thursday... Wayne Helliwell Jr. of Dover, N.H., won the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series 35-lap Late Model feature at Canaan Fair Speedway on Saturday night, his fifth victory of the season... Vermont's Jay Laquerre won the 50-lap Late Model feature at Thunder Road, his first victory in a decade... Dillon Moltz of Waterford, Conn., won the Late Model feature at Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday... Jamie Fisher, Jean Paul Cyr and Ricky Rolfe each won qualifying races for the I Am Vermont Strong 100 at Devil's Bowl Speedway on Friday night before the race was postponed by rain. The Vermont State Championship event will be held this Friday night instead.
