Each Monday we take a look back at the week that was in racing.

This weekend, there were lots of lefthand turns being made – and even some right-handed ones, too. Though most weekly programs have wrapped up around the northeast, the touring series in the region are running through a slew of special events. Without further ado, here are the top performances from the week that was:

1. Todd Szegedy, Ridgefield, Conn.

Szegedy played a patient, lurking strategy to perfection in winning the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 66/99 at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut on Saturday. Szegedy picked up his third win of the season and moved into the series points lead in the process.

The trip to Lime Rock was the only road course visit of the season for the Whelen Modified Tour, and Szegedy's win came after he dominated this event a year ago before finishing second.

2. Johnny Clark, Hallowell, Maine

The multi-time PASS North Series Super Late Model champion earned his third career PASS 300 victory Sunday at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track in Scarborough, Maine. Clark's victory was his seventh of the season and all but put the clamps on a sixth series championship.

3. Patrick Laperle, Ste-Denis, Que.

Laperle dominated en route to the Ste-Eustache 300 win Sunday, to lock up the 2011 ACT Castrol Series championship. Only five cars finished on the lead lap in the event, including Laperle, who finished third in the ACT All-Star Showdown at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in August and will compete at the track this weekend as part of Sylvania 300 weekend.

Honorable Mention

Dan McKeage of Gorham, Maine, won his second consecutive PASS Sportsman division race on Sunday at Beech Ridge. McKeage was the 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track champion... Richie Pallai Jr. of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., finished fourth at Lime Rock Park for his best career Whelen Modified Tour finish... Tom Abele Jr. of Norwich, Conn., earned his first career SK Modified win in the 35-lap feature event at Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday... Woody Pitkat of Stafford, Conn., won both the 30-lap Late Model and 40-lap SK Modified features at Stafford Motor Speedway on Friday night... Ryan Preece of Berlin, Conn., finished fourth in the 40-lap SK Modified feature at Stafford to secure his first NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track championship.
