Bradley Babb won't be credited with a career-best finish after all.
The ACT Late Model Tour announced Monday that Babb had been penalized after his second-place finish in the season-opening NH Governor's Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway on Sunday afternoon. Babb was discovered to have used an unregistered practice tire on his car during the main event.
Babb, who has just one career Top-5 finish on the Tour, was moved back to ninth in the official results, the last car on the lead lap.Late Sunday evening on his personal Facebook page, Babb took the news in stride.
“Before everyone starts questioning I wanna set the story straight,” Babb wrote. “It was our mistake and we're making no excuses, just an honest mistake and rules are rules.”
Babb started 30th in the field, dead last, after using a provisional to gain entry into the feature.
