NHMS Races Toward Checkered Flag
It's one month until the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series visits the Granite State for the SYLVANIA 300 on Sept. 27. And we have a speedy end to the Oxford Casino Season of Speed at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in store as the race to the checkered flag starts this weekend.
Hot Import Nights will invade NHMS for its third year on the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 29, and it's shaping up to be the best event so far as it moves to the infield and the Magic Mile's surface. The on-track action will start with two Moat Mountain Road Course Series races earlier in the day (10 a.m. and 12 p.m.), and several hours of drifting competitions and pace car rides in the afternoon.
HIN is the leading producer of touring automotive lifestyle events and are attended by thousands of automotive and entertainment enthusiasts each year. These street cars will show off an array of lighting, stereo systems, hydraulics, and many other enhancements. It's the perfect event for the modern-day car enthusiast looking for the cutting edge trends and styles.
This fast and furious event marks the beginning of the end of the 2015 race season at NHMS. We're through the dog days of summer and speeding toward autumn, and that means one thing for race fans in New England: NASCAR is on the way!
The SYLVANIA 300 will again run as the second race in the Challenger (first) Round of the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup. Sixteen drivers will enter the race with the opportunity to win the Sprint Cup championship. If one of them wins like Joey Logano did last year, that driver will clinch a spot in the next round of the bracket-style Chase.
Most anyone that follows NASCAR is aware that this year is Jeff Gordon's final attempt at his fifth Cup championship, and the Sept. 27 race date at NHMS will hold special significance in his career. It is scheduled to be his 789th consecutive start in the Cup Series, breaking Ricky Rudd's all-time record of 788.
We have a lot in store to remember the career of No. 24. We're starting with the "Roar for 24" package, which includes a grandstand ticket, pre-race pit pass, scanner rental, and commemorative Jeff Gordon NHMS hero card that remembers his three wins at the Magic Mile.
We look forward to sending Gordon off in style as a part of our season-long 25th Anniversary celebration, and we're excited that our fans will be a part of his (magic) milestone start. It all goes down in one month's time!
