A Letter to Fans from David McGrath
I would like to introduce myself as the new Executive Vice President and General Manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway. This might be our first introduction, but rest assured that this is not my first introduction to NHMS.
I first joined the team here at the Magic Mile as the Director of Advertising and Marketing in November 2011. I later became the VP of Marketing before switching over to the VP of Corporate Sales in January 2014. My different roles at the speedway have allowed me to create lasting relationships with both our corporate and media partners, and I look forward to strengthening those connections in my new position.
A New Englander through and through, I was born and raised in Marlborough, Mass., as the youngest of 11 children. One thing I love about Speedway Motorsports, Inc. is the family-friendly competition that each sister track brings to the table. The demand to strive to impress "the parents" will remind me of my upbringing, minus the wrestling and raucous, of course.
I now reside in Kennebunk, Maine, with my wife, Marybeth, of 25 years and our two wonderful children. My son, Garrett, is a freshman in college and loves playing lacrosse. My daughter, Samantha, is in sixth grade and enjoys field hockey, soccer and lacrosse. Living by the coast, we obviously spend a lot of time visiting the beach and eating lobster. Marybeth and I also enjoy date nights in Portland.
It's my pleasure to assume this position at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. I'm privileged to work with a smart and talented team that has gotten to know me as more than just a boss, but also a friend. SMI puts an emphasis on its "Fans First" motto, where we strive to provide each and every visitor with a positive and memorable experience.
I might have become the boss, but I know that the success of NHMS hinges on the contributions of its employees. I believe in empowering them to take control of a situation, and my expectation is that each person will make a meaningful contribution to our mission - from the vice presidents right down to the interns. I look forward to leading this talented team to make NHMS bigger and better than ever for you, the fans, and I hope to meet many of you at the track in the near future.
