Michael Ziegler Named VP of Corporate Sales
From the Lone Star State to the Granite State, Michael Ziegler brings more than a decade of motorsports experience with him as New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials announced today the hiring of Ziegler as the speedway's new vice president of corporate sales.
Ziegler joins New Hampshire Motor Speedway after spending the last 12 years as the senior manager of business development at Texas Motor Speedway, one of eight tracks in the Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (SMI) family. During his time in Fort Worth, Texas, Ziegler was instrumental in landing entitlement sponsorships, developing unique victory lane presentations, creating a syndicated radio program, and launching branding and promotional campaigns.
"We could not be more pleased with the addition of Michael Ziegler to our team here in New Hampshire," said David McGrath, executive vice president and general manager of the speedway. "Michael was influential in generating dynamic and innovative programs in several capacities in Texas. He is very well respected throughout the industry and we are fortunate to have his experience in our sales office moving forward."
As vice president of sales, Ziegler will be responsible for the leadership and management of all corporate sales activities at the speedway - including sponsorships, hospitality and corporate ticket sales. Ziegler will lead a team of account executives and sales assistants, and will be responsible for collaboratively working with the marketing and operations departments to enhance revenue growth and partnership development.
"I am honored to join the incredible team David has assembled at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and pay forward the experiences and knowledge I've gained in Texas the past 12 years," Ziegler said. "The office will be new and the climate very different, but I'm truly humbled to stay within the SMI family and build upon my existing industry relationships while furthering the great partnerships already in place at the speedway. My family and I are looking forward to the new opportunities that await us in the Granite State."
Ziegler joined Texas Motor Speedway in 2003, managing a multi-million dollar client portfolio of national, regional and local partners around all speedway events during his tenure. He was a six-time Salesperson of the Year at TMS and is a two-time winner of the prestigious President's Club Award, an annual recognition given by SMI CEO Marcus Smith, acknowledging the company's top revenue achievers.
Prior to TMS, Ziegler was the vice president of corporate sales for the Texas Brahmas hockey club in Fort Worth, Texas, from 2003-05; the assistant sports information director at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, from 1999-2001; the director of media relations for the NCAA Division III American Southwest Conference in Richardson, Texas, from 1997-99; and a sports editor for Worrell Community Newspapers in Union, N.J., from 1994-97.
Ziegler graduated with a B.A. in Journalism from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. He will be relocating this spring to New Hampshire with his wife, Victoria, and their two children, Sabrina, 11, and Patrick, 9.
