LRRS Season Races to a Close
They negotiate 12 turns while going 150 mph on just two-wheels, and, this weekend, the riders of the Loudon Road Race Series will wrap up their 2011 season at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. With a picture perfect weather forecast predicted for both Saturday and Sunday, Loudon’s motorcycle stars are revved up for “The Magic Mile’s” fastest finale.
When the series visited NHMS in September, Dunbarton, N.H. native Scott Greenwood finally broke through to grab his first Middle Weight Grand Prix victory of the seven race season. “It feels good to finally win a Dash for Cash race this year and I’d like to finish out the season with another win the next event. Without the support of my sponsors and family, I would not be here racing, so a big thank you goes out to them,” said Greenwood in September.
On a backup bike, Eric Wood was able to finish second and wrap up the 2011 Middleweight Grand Prix championship. “Clinching championships and winning championships is what this is all about,” said Wood. “It’s what my sponsors want. You have to be fast week in and week out. Rather than throw it out on a day like today, I’ll take my second place and get what I have to get.”
The Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour will be back on track this weekend as well for the final race of the 2011 season. Shaun Buffington remained the driver to beat during the 25-lap SYLVANIA 300 pre-race event. Buffington looks to clinch the championship on Saturday, a feat he will accomplish by simply starting the race.
Tickets for the Loudon Road Race Series finale weekend can be purchased at the gate. For more information, please click here to visit the LRRS page.
