90th annual Loudon Classic Starts Tomorrow
A mid-race red flag and a bad restart did little to upstage Eric Wood's quest at his first Loudon Classic. The native of Ashburnham, Mass., was able to overcome both to win the Middleweight Grand Prix feature event last year.
"I've been watching this race since I've been able to walk," said Wood, following last year's race. "I've watched a lot of great riders win here. This just means so much to finally get a win."
Now, can he make it a repeat performance at the 90th annual Loudon Classic, which begins on Friday and runs through Sunday afternoon.
There will be plenty of talented riders in the field that will have a lot to say about Wood's repeat hopes. 2011 winner Shane Narbonne (Tyngsboro, Mass.), 2010 champion Scott Greenwood (Dunbarton, N.H.) and Cory Hildebrand (Milford, N.H.) will be the top threats at dethroning the defending champion.
"We always look forward to the great show these riders put on for us for three days," said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway. "These are some of the best riders, not only locally, but across the nation. This is a premier event that you won't want to miss."
The 90th Loudon Classic weekend begins Friday, June 15, and will run through Sunday, June 17.
The Loudon Classic is part of the 2013 season of speed at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, which also includes the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series New Hampshire 300 on July 14, and the SYLVANIA 300 on Sept. 22.
