LRRS, Nelcar Reach Critical Point in Season
The Loudon Road Race Series will return to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the fifth time this year with over 20 different events scheduled throughout the weekend.
At speeds of up to 175 mph, the local two-wheeled stars will tackle the tricky 12-turn, “Magic Mile” road course eyeing the series championship.
The last time LRRS raced at NHMS was the midway point of the 2011 season. Shane Narbonne led the way, capturing his third Middleweight Dash for Cash event in four races.
Narbonne continues to lead the standings by 20 points over fan favorite Eric Wood with Corey Hildebrand and Scott Greenwood close behind in third and fourth. However, with Narbonne expected to be missing due a conflict with an AMA race, the door is open for Wood and the pack to close ground.
The NELCAR Legends Tour will be back in action on Saturday at 5 p.m. Shaun Buffington continues to dominate the series at “The Magic Mile” behind the wheel of his No.23 Legend car. The Conn. native is undefeated on both the NHMS 1.6-mile road course and the 0.25-mile Legend car mini-oval in 2011. Buffington won July's race by a slim margin over the No. 18 of his teammate Tom Gray and the field will be looking to end his run at NHMS.
