Gappens: The Holiday Season is Here
In this world of Sprint Cup, it seems appropriate to say it feels like we are all “rushing” into the holiday season. The on-track action may have ended at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, but the list of exciting events in Loudon continues – and we can’t wait to open our gates to a whole new list of seasonal activities we know you’ll enjoy.
As part of Halloween weekend with the 24 Hours of Lemons, New Hampshire Motor Speedway will host its first-ever Hooptiefest. The country tradition will feature several unusual competitions, including wife carrying, spud-gun shooting and pumpkin pitching. There will also be an opportunity to carve Jack-o-Lanterns.
On Friday, Oct. 25, we will kick off … or perhaps squeeze out our 24 Hours of Lemons. You’ve probably heard of this event before – how long can you make that clunker run? Local competitors bring their old cars to the track to see if they can nurse their beaters to the finish line in a fun and pretty amusing race of endurance. Friday is the test session, so bring your jumper cables and help!
On Saturday, Oct. 26, we combine Lemons and Pumpkin events. At 8:00 a.m. come watch the wife-carrying contest (insert your punchline here). We have racing and pumpkin chucking later in the day.
On Sunday, Oct. 27, we finish it all up with another Lemon session, and close with a memorable awards ceremony.
Just as you recover from the Halloween fun, we will flip the switch and light up the holidays as The Gift of Lights returns to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for its second year. Once again, we have more than a mile of lights, strung along a winding course on NHMS property, including right onto the road course. The 2012 display will double the amount of lights and displays from last year and will feature several displays in the entrance to the facility, as fans prepare to drive the course. The kids will love it, it’s for a good cause – benefitting Speedway Children’s Charities – and it will certainly get everyone into the holiday spirit. Gates open every day at 4:30 p.m.
At New Hampshire Motor Speedway, we like to take care of our family, so make us a part of your holiday plans! See you soon.
