Pocono: Three To Watch
This weekend's race at Pocono Raceway officially kicks off the second half of the regular season. Thirteen races down, thirteen left to qualify for NASCAR's postseason. The pressure will start to ramp up on the teams that have yet to clinch a Chase bid, so expect teams to start pushing hard for that all-important win when the opportunity arises.
Here's a look at some of the drivers to watch this weekend at Pocono:
Green Flag - Jeff Gordon
With six wins at Pocono Raceway, Gordon could be the winless driver that steps to clinch a spot in the Chase. Most believe he'll make it in to compete for a title in his final season, but sitting ninth without a victory is far from a lock. It's time for No. 24 to visit victory lane.
Yellow Flag - Dale Earnhardt Jr.
He was winless at Pocono through his first 28 starts, but swept both races at the track last season. He's thrived since the track was recently paved, so he could be in for another great day, but again, the track record isn't there.
Red Flag - Matt Kenseth
This isn't his track. He has just three top-fives in 30 starts at Pocono and no wins. In fact, at Media Day in Daytona earlier this year, he joked that on the track known for three unique turns, his favorite is the one he takes when he's leaving.
