There's one race left before The Race.  Phoenix International Raceway is the final opportunity for the seven Chase contenders not named Jeff Gordon to stake their claim on one of three remaining spots in the Championship Race at Homestead next Sunday.

For some drivers, that task will be harder than for others.  Joey Logano can only get in via a win, while the same fate is virtually true for Brad Keselowski and Kurt Busch.  At seven points back of the cut line, Carl Edwards sits in a position to vulture a spot on points if one of the top three in points slip up.  Those three are Kyle Busch (11 points to the good), Kevin Harvick (10 points) and Martin Truex Jr. (seven points).  As previously mentioned, Gordon is already through by virtue of his Martinsville win.

Here are three championship contenders to watch closely at Phoenix:

Green Flag - Kevin Harvick

He's won the last four (yes, four) Cup races at Phoenix.  Need we learn more about what makes him the favorite?

Yellow Flag - Joey Logano

He was the top contender entering this Eliminator Round before Matt Kenseth intentionally wrecked him at Martinsville.  He then cut a tire at Texas, and now must win to make it to the championship.  Don't count him out yet, though.  Kenseth isn't on the track this week due to a suspension for his actions, and Logano has led at least 17 laps in each of the last four Phoenix races.  He hasn't dominated the track in that time like Harvick, but he could be the one to snap the No. 4's winning streak.

Red Flag - Kurt Busch

Three of his last four races last Phoenix have been top-10s, but he almost assuredly needs a win to advance.  He hasn't led a lap at that track since March of 2012, so his chances of visiting victory lane are unlikely.
