Kansas: Three To Watch
This Sunday's race at Kansas Speedway looms big for the Chase for the Sprint Cup contenders. Next weekend's elimination race will be at Talladega Superspeedway, so a win at Kansas is the only way to ensure that a great season doesn't go down the drain in "The Big One" at Dega.
Here are three Chase contenders to watch Sunday afternoon:
Green Flag - Kevin Harvick
While the Kansas and Charlotte races were flip-flopped last year, Harvick was the one that won this pre-Talladega race (at Charlotte). He and his team know how to step up and win races when he needs them and this is one he's going to want badly. Expect Harvick to push for the win all day.
Yellow Flag - Matt Kenseth
After finishing 42nd at Charlotte, Kenseth will need a win to move on. This is an opportunity for him, as he's won twice at Kansas and has eight top-10s in the last 10 races at that track. The door is open, now he needs to find a way to get through it and win the race.
Red Flag - Ryan Newman
In 2014, Newman managed to point his way through to the Championship Race without a win on the season. He'll have trouble doing that again. He finished 15th at Charlotte and now goes to a track where he has just six top-10s in 19 career starts. Newman will need to overachieve at this point if he expects to move on.
